UK Etape Training was set up by Rob Penn, journalist, author and cycling obsessive, in 2008 to provide
small group, fully supported training weekends, lead by pro cyclists, in the
Brecon Beacons National Park, the finest Etape training countryside in the UK.
Ride hard, eat well and sleep deeply is the ethos behind UK Etape Training. Rob
is the author of the Sunday Times bestseller It’s All About the Bike: the Pursuit of Happiness on Two Wheels and
presenter of the acclaimed documentray Ride of My Life: the Story
of the Bicycle broadcast on BBC 4 and 2. He also writes for the Sunday
Times ‘Cycle Guy’ column, Cycling Plus and a handful of other cycling publications.
Rob has ridden a bike pretty much every day of his adult life. In his late twenties, he gave up a comfortable seat in a City solicitors’ office for a leather saddle and spent three years bicycling round the world. He has ridden a bike in over 45 countries on five continents. Rob moved to the Black Mountains, where he lives with his wife and three kids, because the cycling – on road and trails – is so outstanding.
